Lupus is an incurable and chronic illness: life- long medical expenses can be very high and work life can be affected. In Ireland the disease hasn’t been listed yet in the Long Term Illness Scheme: the Lupus Group Ireland is committed to have the disease recognised and listed in the Scheme and it will continue fighting for that to happen. In the meantime you may be able to apply for GP Card or Medical Card:

Just in certain specific circumstances, you may be also eligible to apply for a disability allowance. In order to have more specific information regarding your peculiar situation we strongly suggest contacting your local Citizen Information Office.
